Skull Pattern Tapestries
Description: Detailed Japanese-inspired skull artwork featuring Sashiko-style stitching, geometric embroidery patterns, floral accents and traditional wave motifs. The deep blue and white aesthetic creates a bold mix of Japanese textile craftsmanship and dark skull art. Ideal for fans of Japanese culture, Sashiko embroidery, gothic artwork, tattoo aesthetics and unique stitched designs.
Description: I started this mini-series back in 2016 and, honestly, didn't know what the end result would be. At the time, I was just cranking them because they were fun, and I completed one within a few hours. The majority of the Skulls and Buddhas series are either 4x6 or 5x7 inches. It always seemed to me that the symbolism of skulls and the Buddha (in a meditative pose) is similar. In the practice of sitting meditation, we confront the inescapable reality of impermanence, and the skull often symbolizes mortality. The simple fact that we will have to face our own last breath.
