Description: Flying Scotsman LNER number 4472 became the first steam locomotive to be officially authenticated at a speed of 100 MPH on the 30th November 1934 on a special test run. Unofficially the GWR locomotive 3440 City of Truro was timed at running in excess of 100 mph during a run from Plymouth to London in 1904.
