In Africa every year millions cultivated hectares are lost due to these creatures and their never ending appetite. They arrive in their millions and destroyed thousand of acres of land in just one day. The subsequent starvation hits very hard among the local people. The locusts have many predators, birds, reptiles, mammals and many other insects, but these predators only eat a mere 10% of all the locusts in a single swarm.
