Description: Silver Fleet Motor Express (SFME) was founded in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1930. The company set up daily freight service from Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, and Illinois, to half a dozen southern states. The 'Silver Fleet System' proved to be popular and SFME steadily grew its fleet to accommodate customer needs. Within a decade, SFME was operating over 100 power units and twice as many trailers with terminals across multiple states. Their clean rigs could be seen coming from miles away with their custom black and silver liveries and became a common sight in the regions they served.
Description: During Prohibition, moonshine production skyrocketed. The spirits were made under the light of the moon, in hopes that no one would detect smoke from the stills, a practice that earned the booze its name moonshine. These distilleries used runners who could smuggle moonshine from the stills to customers across the region. On the outside, the runner cars looked stock to avoid attention, but on the inside high-powered engines and heavy-duty suspensions that would give them the edge in outrunning law enforcement. These runners and their souped up cars would eventually be raced and lead to what we all know as modern stock car racing today. This Moonshine Express design comes from the '70s, when a moonshine running experienced a resurgence.
