Gary Pillows
Description: A retro-style composition with the large word 'GARY' in a layered, dimensional font. The letters are in shades of cream and orange, with an orange shadow and drip effect at the bottom. Below 'GARY', the word 'Indiana' is written in a white, elegant script font. The entire composition is set against a black background.
Description: Vee-Jay Records is an American record label founded in the 1950s, located in Chicago and specializing in blues, jazz, rhythm and blues and rock and roll. The label was founded in Gary, Indiana, in 1953 by Vivian Carter and James C. Bracken, a husband-and-wife team who used their initials for the label's name. Vivian's brother, Calvin Carter, was the label's A&R man. Ewart Abner, formerly of Chance Records, joined the label in 1955, first as manager, then as vice president, and ultimately as president.
Description: True Romance is a film chock full of excellent individual scenes featuring legendary actors in small roles, and many (myself included) have praised these roles and scenes as "making" the film. But at the heart of this ultra-violent and bitingly funny and smart film is a love story. It would be easy for all of the powerful scenes and huge cameos to overshadow the leads, Alabama and Clarence Worley, but Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater don't let that happen; they have no problem carrying the main story, and somehow make several ridiculous premises believable. The genuine sweetness and love between them is ultimately the most satisfying element of the film, and the real reason we keep coming back to watch.
