Peter Capaldi Pillows
Description: “Winning? Is that what you think is about? I’m not trying to win. I’m not doing this because I want to beat someone or because I hate someone or because… because I want to blame someone. It’s not because is fun, God knows it’s not because is easy. It’s not even because it works because it hardly ever does. I do what I do because it’s right. Because it’s decent. And above all it’s kind, it’s just that. Just kind." This beautiful speech from the Season 10 finale, The Doctor Falls, is a message we all need right now—to do what we do with kindness.
Description: Heaven Sent from Doctor Who season 9 is a masterpiece of storytelling. The visuals and directing are incredible, but the story is what shines. I'm particularly fond of the shepherd boy's tale used to illustrate the billions of years the Doctor spent in the clockwork, puzzle hell running from the veil. The metaphor - a bird sharpens its beak on a granite mountain once every 100 years or so, and the time it takes for the mountain to be worn down from the sharpening of birds beaks...is one second in eternity - has often been used in literature. James Joyce uses it, most notably, in 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.'
