Description: The Riviera opened on April 20, 1955, as the first high-rise at 9 stories, and the ninth resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The Riviera Hotel was one of the oldest and well-known casino resort in Las Vegas Strip. It stopped operating in May 2015 after being bought by The Las Vegas Convention and visitors Authority which scheduled to implode the property as part of the billion-dollar project of expanding the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Description: Adjoining Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn Hotel & Country Club, named after the famous French resort, was one of the more glamorous of Las Vegas' Motels Opened 7/3/58 on Desert Inn. Demolished 1/6/94 for the widening of Desert Inn Rd. 71 large, elegantly furnished units with dressing rooms, queen size beds and large family units fit for a king, at low prices to suit every man's purse, plus refrigerated air-conditioning and a heated swimming pool. Today, it's right where the Encore sign stands
Description: the Las Vegas Gold Key, was located at 3053 Las Vegas Blvd. Opened in 1960. Closed in 1990. Demolished during the Desert Inn Road Super Arterial project It was located across from the Stardust, by the Desert Inn and the Flame Restaurant, on the site of what is now the Gold Key Shops. It had 100 rooms, was 3 stories tall with a glass elevator, heated pool, color TV in every room, coffee shop, drug store, steak house and cocktail lounge.
