Description: Perfect Products began forming fiberglass hoods, scoops, and body panels in the early '60s as a white label supplier to other companies. By the late '60s, they had had started advertising direct sales in the various hot rod and drag racing magazines, selling via mail order though their catalog. Whether you needed a bolt on hood scoop or a one piece front clip, Akron, Ohio's Perfect Products was the best in the business.
Description: In 1982's Six Pack, Kenny Rogers plays Brewster (Brew) Baker, an itinerant racing-car driver. Notwithstanding Brew's nickname, the six pack of the title refers to cute kids, not to beers. Cute kids who are orphans, whose specialties are either stripping or repairing racing cars, depending on how they feel about the owner. The kids steal Brew's engine when the film begins, but pretty soon he becomes a father figure to them and they fall into working as his pit crew. It's about as '80s as they come and super family friendly, but a good watch nonetheless.
Description: Altamont Speedway was a motorsports racetrack located in northern California, west of Tracy. The track opened on July 22, 1966. Altamont contained a variety of different track configurations including a 1/2 mile oval, 1/4 mile oval, 1.1-mile road course, and a figure 8 track, and was the state's largest oval racetrack north of Los Angeles. Altamont Speedway is well known for its December 6, 1969, hosting of the notorious and ill-fated Altamont Free Concert, featuring several top rock acts. After 42 years of racing, the speedway closed in October 2008.

The success of the Gambler-based cars led to countless copycats and many of the original design features are now standard among modern chassis builders. While Gambler built sprint cars are long out of production, most of those they made are still tearing up the track and are hardly sought after by racers, so when one comes up for sale, it's safe to say that it doesn't stay on the market for very long.

Description: The Aurora Plastics Corporation introduced the A/FX (Aurora Factory Experimentals, later simply "AFX") line of slot cars, track sets, and related accessories in 1971. Aurora designed the AFX cars with an interchangeable car body, allowing users to use a single chassis for multiple models. The original '71 A/FX chassis utilized an updated version of Aurora's "Thunderjet 500" line, popular in the '60s. AFX introduced the innovative "G-Plus" in-line motor chassis in 1976. This design allowed the use of narrow, open-wheel Formula 1 style bodies, something not previously possible with traditional slot car chassis designs. AFX continued production, releasing multiple innovative products until the company was forced into receivership in 1983.

Description: "Dyno" Don Nicholson earned his nickname while working at the big Pasadena Chebby dealer, using the dynamometer to tune customer cars. With the aid of his dealer connections, his prowess on the track caught the attention of Bowtie's racing gurus in Detroit, and Nicholson was one of the first to receive a 409 when it debuted in 1961. He put that 409 to good use, winning the Top Stock Eliminator at the first Winternationals in his Bel Air. He repeated that feat in '62, by which time he had been lured to Atlanta to work his tuning magic for Nalley Chebby. Nalley would not ony sponsor his Bel Air, but also set him up with his own dedicated tuning garage, calling it the Nalley-Nicholson Dyno Shop.
