Georges Melies Bags
Description: So lately I've been studying filmmaking, classics... And Georges Méliès... What can I say about this guy?! G E N I U S Inspired by "A Trip to the Moon", one of his famous films I just thought: The moon surely doesn't like that popular quote... poor satellite. And then I drew it...
Description: A rocket straight into the Moon's eye! Inspired by Georges Méliès' groundbreaking 1902 silent film Le Voyage dans la Lune (A Trip to the Moon), this striking linocut reimagines one of cinema's most recognisable images. A screaming, anthropomorphic Moon is struck by a spacecraft, surrounded by explosive golden rays and swirling blue clouds. Rendered in bold ivory, antique gold, azure and black, the design combines early cinematic fantasy, surrealism and vintage science-fiction imagery. Featuring the original French caption, this is a tribute to the imagination, theatrical spectacle and pioneering special effects of early cinema.
