Waterworks Park Issaquah 1984 Bag
Main Tag:

Description: Anyone who has lived in western Washington knows that water parks aren't exactly compatible with the weather, and having one open for the few months that you *may* have warm enough temps to enjoy them isn't really economically viable. While that may be the case, that didn't stop developers from building one in Issaquah, Washington back in 1984. Located at the south end of Lake Sammamish and just off I-90 in an area that is now just one ginormous business park, Waterworks Park claimed to offer more than a mile of waterslides. Opened in 1984, the park was built atop a massive artificial hill made from excavated earth from Seattle’s Mount Baker Tunnel project. Despite western Washington’s notoriously cool and rainy climate, Waterworks Park boasted over a mile of waterslides, including thrill rides like the “Black Hole,” and featured the largest hot tub in the Northwest. Designed as a seasonal attraction, it operated during the summer months but ultimately closed in 1988 due to rising land value and limited warm-weather viability. Today, the site is part of a sprawling business park, but Waterworks Park remains a no
