Description: "Lark Sparrow on a Country Road Post" I often like to drive the rural roads in search of birds, and I am often successful in finding at least a few that are perched. It was early May, yet without the normal Spring rains, the remains of winter twigs surrounded the old wooden post where the Lark Sparrow was taking a break on this back road in North Oklahoma. Description: This is my painting of the Colorado state bird and flower, the lark bunting and Rocky Mountain columbine. This flower features two-tone flowers with star-like, creamy white petals and violet-blue sepals and spurs. Bushy yellow stamens add a third color. Colorado was admitted to the union on August 1, 1876 as the 38th state. This painting is in my state birds and flowers collection.
