I have always loved dragons and am glad that it is currently year of the dragon. In Chinese culture, dragons represent power, wisdom, luck, and strength. During Lunar New Year parades, people often wear a long dragon puppet and march around the streets. This is called a dragon dance. "

Artist Statement: "Snakes have always held a special place in my heart, so when I heard this year’s animal for Lunar New Year was the snake, I was already excited! I know that snakes have always had the reputation to be frightening, or are a common symbolism of deceit and trickery, and just have other negative traits associated with them. Well, I didn’t want to represent that side. Even though snakes can’t feel love, that doesn’t mean they can’t BE loved. So I displayed my love for snakes by showing the more innocent side of them, the more colorful side. Alongside the lucky golden fruit, I showed that snakes can be beautiful and vibrant too."

Artist Statement: "For my art I was inspired by the Traditional Chinese dresses and the beautiful nature of snakes. When i was smaller i was I fell in love with reptiles, especially snakes, so when I saw this art competition i couldn't resist doing this. I hope my art is exceptional, I worked extremely hard on my art piece and hope for the best outcome."
