Description: The Goddess of the Hunt and the Moon, Diana, is featured in this rendition of the Major Arcana tarot card. She leaps in the air, in pursuit of the hunt with her stag by her side. Diana lets her arrow fly, as she protects this forest from casual onlookers. Diana's bow is in the shape of a crescent moon. This symbolizes her connection to the stars and all things celestial. Two cypress tress flank the goddess. One vivacious while the other withers. A layer of fog and forest of trees conceals what lies beyond.

Description: Much like her Greek counterpart in Artemis, Diana was the Roman Goddess of wild animals, the hunt, young girls, and childbirth. Unlike Artemis, however, Diana was also a moon Goddess, connected with Luna in the same vein as her brother, Apollo, and his later connection to the sun. This is a classical rendition of 'Diana the Huntress', originally sculpted by Guillaume Coustou (1716-1777).

The crescent moon and stag were her symbols. Some Wiccan traditions associate the moon with the Goddess and the stag with Her Consort, the Horned God.
