Launched during the height of the glam rock and Countdown era, Spunky! was designed to cater to a young, pop-obsessed audience. Each edition (retailing initially for 60 cents) included pin-ups, competitions, comic strips, and extensive fan coverage of teen idols. Despite a loyal following, the publication was relatively short-lived and wrapped up by the end of 1977.
