Description: Within the confines of Prague Castle, St Vitus Cathedral stands and dominates the skyline. But within, its Gothic interior is sublime; it captures the mind. This image showcases the vaulted ceiling above the nave. To its sides gothic arches rise from the floor with clerestory windows above to provide abundant illumination. What I love about this image is the perfect symmetry with only the varying tones in the stonework to differentiate one side from the other. You have to give it to them, the people who built such a beautiful structure, they really understood their geometry and how to reproduce it in stone. Wow!

Description: We had been up to visit the castle in Prague, but upon leaving I turned back to look up at this stunning skyline. It was late afternoon. The sunlight was strong, creating such clear definition of the castle that is a palace, and the elegant spires of St. Vitus Cathedral, which resides within the castle walls. While the Sun still shone brightly, mighty clouds were moving across the sky, providing such a dramatic backdrop this castle on a hill.

Description: This image portrays the wonderful interior space of the St. Vitus Church in Cesky Krumlov, Czechia. We came across this church when exploring the town, where its medieval centre is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the church itself a National Cultural Monument in Czechia. This late medieval church features a superb vaulted ceiling, sitting atop gothic arches, with all supported by tall, stone columns. The tall stained glass windows provide abundant daylight, which gives this lofty space a lovely airy feeling. What I love about this image is how the interior lent itself to be captured in this ultra wide-angle shot, with the converging verticals creating a very dynamic image. Anyway, I hope you like it.
