Forest Illusions- Aspens and Sweet Peas is a combination of long exposure and planned camera movement combined with the natural lighting and colorations of the scene before me. Not more than a half mile from my home there is a patch of wild sweet peas in a grove of aspens. The morning sun exploded it into a palette of color! Why be so drab when one can charge into the day with all the colors of nature!

My dramatic rendition of an Aspen Forest. Aspen trees are an amazing species. Before they grow above ground, they develop a complex root system. Aspen trees are recognizable for their beautiful white bark on the trunks.

Along an Autumn Path through the Birches, watercolor batik and digital painting by Conni Schaftenaar The base painting is a watercolor batik on ginwashi rice paper. I digitally added some leaves, did some selective blurring, and created more light in the center of the painting than I had managed to retain in the original (sigh).
