The Fairfax District is a neighborhood in Los Angeles's Midtown region. It has long been a center of Jewish Angeleno culture although today Fairfax Avenue hosts an odd mixture of established Jewish businesses and newer streetwear boutiques. San Gabriel is a suburban city in the San Gabriel Valley. The majority of its populace are foreign-born -- mostly in Vietnam and China -- lead to it's affectionately being nicknamed "Chan Gabriel." Its official name is derived from Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, a Spanish mission built in 1776. The La Brea Tar Pits are a group of tar pits around which Hancock Park was formed in urban Los Angeles. Natural asphalt (or tar brea in Spanish) has seeped up from the ground in this area for tens of thousands of years. The tar is often covered with dust, leaves, or water, which made it a natural trap for animals of all kinds, including humans. Over many centuries, the tar preserved the bones of animals that became trapped. La Brea Tar Pits is a registered National Natural Landmark and the on-site museum is dedicated to researching the tar pits and displaying specimens found there.

100 Mile Vintage Auto Race

The Ventura County Gulls were a minor league baseball team in Ventura, California in 1986. They were a high-A class team that played in the California League, and were a farm team of the Toronto Blue Jays for the franchise’s only year as the Gulls. They played all of their home games at the baseball field at Ventura College. In spite of the fact that the Gulls’ roster featured 14 future major league baseball players in their lone year, Ventura County did not make the playoffs; instead, they lost a tiebreaker to the Visalia Oaks.

Chili Davis is the first ballplayer born in Jamaica to appear in an MLB game. Chili Davis played for the San Francisco Giants, California Angels, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and the New York Yankees. Chili Davis was a switch-hitter and threw right-handed.
