Edgar Allan Poe was an American writer, editor, and literary critic. Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. He is widely regarded as a central figure of Romanticism in the United States and of American literature as a whole, and he was one of the country’s earliest practitioners of the short story. He is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. He was the first well-known American writer to earn a living through writing alone.

Description: I've had a set of coloured inks that I've not had the chance to use on any projects yet, so just as an experiment I tested them out with this piece of Edgar Allan Poe and I'm pretty impressed with the results. To paint this, I used clear water to begin with painting out the figure, and then I would drop Scarlet ink and then blue ink onto the wet areas using a straw. The result is this amazing mixture of colours of reds, blues and purples, purple being the colour I was aiming for as a reference to The Raven and furthermore Baltimore.
