You need to turn the spotlight of compassion you so freely spread around to others, onto yourself."⁠ That's what my therapist said to me when I called myself a hot mess. I don't think I have referred to myself as a hot mess after that moment. Learning to be unconditionally loving and compassionate towards yourself takes time, but it's so vital.
