Twelfth Doctor inspired by Doctor Who series

While I'm not one to pick favorites when it comes to the Doctor, I am not ashamed to admit that Missy is my favorite regeneration of the Master. Michelle Gomez is simply perfect.

In the first episode of Doctor Who's 10th season, Bill Potts meets Heather, who promises to follow her everywhere.

A week before the news broke that John Simm would be appearing in Season 10, I tweeted that I was desperate to see a two-master story with Simm and Gomez. I predicted that the banter would be epic. I also predicted that Missy would kill Simm's Master. I didn't predict that Simm's Master would also kill Missy. Either way, as soon as the news broke, I made this to celebrate the fact that my wish came true. Also, it accurately depicts the Doctor's joy in having to deal with both Masters.

I love the Mondasian Cyberman. The 10th Planet is one of the best stories in Doctor Who history and I love that the 10th season plays into that origin story.

The Twelfth Doctor is an anomaly. We call him the 12th Doctor, but he's the 13th version of the Doctor. Also, Time Lord biology only allows them to regenerate 12 times, but he was technically the 13th regeneration. (The 10th Doctor regenerated twice and the War Doctor was a secret regeneration. The numbers are all off, but we Whovians accept it because it fits in with the Timey Whimy absurdities of the show.) The Doctor should have died of old age at the end of the 11th Doctor's run when he spent a thousand years on Trensalore. But the Time Lords intervened, using a crack in the universe from the bubble universe that they're trapped in, and granted the Doctor another regeneration cycle, which they can do because this is a show about tim...

Everybody just stopped. Everyone was just kind." The 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi), with The 1st Doctor (David Bradley) as they view the 1914 Christmas Armistice. Seeing his future self save both the lives of the Captain and German soldier, along with the Armistice is what finally convinces the 1st Doctor to carry on and regenerate, while the 12th Doctor still needs a bit more convincing.

The Name of The Doctor

Heaven Sent from Doctor Who season 9 is a masterpiece of storytelling. The visuals and directing are incredible, but the story is what shines. I'm particularly fond of the shepherd boy's tale used to illustrate the billions of years the Doctor spent in the clockwork, puzzle hell running from the veil. The metaphor - a bird sharpens its beak on a granite mountain once every 100 years or so, and the time it takes for the mountain to be worn down from the sharpening of birds beaks...is one second in eternity - has often been used in literature. James Joyce uses it, most notably, in 'A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.'

Prior to painting this, I asked my Twitter followers what I should paint next and the most votes were for something that expressed the relationship between the 12th Doctor and Clara. This scene immediately came to mind. I can't describe the scene without writing a hundreds of words. Let's just say, Clara totally betrays the Doctor in an attempt to save her boyfriend who had been hit by a car and killed. It just might have been my favorite scene from Series 8 because of his response after her betrayal. We should all be so lucky to experience such friendship.
