The Dead Boys' 1977 debut is among the greatest punk albums ever made, so a follow-up was going to be tough. The band's label was convinced they had commercial potential, so to insure success, they brought in Felix Pappalardi to produce their 1978 follow up, We Have Come For Your Children. Pappalardi was best known as the bassist for rock band Mountain, and his job was to reign in the Boys. Unfortunately, he was so successful that he ruined a lot of what was great about the Dead Boys. Recording was problematic, and sessions were halted when the band became convinced that Pappalardi didn't understand their music. The band tried, but were unsuccessful to get another producer; so the album was pushed out, and they broke up a short time later.

Musicor Records was a New York City-based record label, active during the 1960s and 1970s. The label was founded by songwriter Aaron Schroeder and distributed by United Artists Records. In 1965, UA employee and A&R man Arthur Talmadge (a co-founder of Mercury Records years earlier) started his own Talmadge Productions company and, along with fellow UA employee/A&R man Harold "Pappy" Daily, bought the Musicor label from UA.

Scotti Brothers Records (typically spelled Scotti Bros. Records) was a California-based record label founded by Tony and Ben Scotti in 1974. Their first success was releasing singles and albums from teen pop star Leif Garrett. They later helped launch the careers of David Hallyday, Felony, Survivor, and "Weird Al" Yankovic (the latter under their Rock 'n' Roll banner). They also signed James Brown to a recording contract in the mid-1980s as well as the UK act Flag featuring David Cairns from Secret Affair and Archie Brown. Tommy Puett released his only album Life Goes On in 1990 under Scotti Brothers Records.

Refuge Records was a contemporary Christian music record label founded in 1980 by Greg Nelson, Jack Hafer and Ray Nenow. One imprint of Refuge was Pure Metal Records, although Star Song Communications bought out that branch in 1990. The label had Doug Mann, future founder of R.E.X. Records, as an employee.

Mirwood Records was an American record label founded by former Vee-Jay executive Randy Wood in Los Angeles in 1965. The Mirwood label was a sister label to Mira Records. It primarily released rhythm and blues and jazz recordings, and has been described as "among the definitive Northern soul labels". Many of its records were written and produced by Fred Smith and arranged by James Carmichael, who (according to Jason Ankeny at AllMusic) "hone[d] a distinctive style all their own, creating soul music that was both relentlessly energetic and sweetly sophisticated, topped off by trademark vibes that evoked the otherworldly beauty of a Pacific Ocean sunset".

Slap a Ham Records was an independent label from San Francisco owned and operated by Chris Dodge. The label lasted for about 13 years, officially shutting down in 2002. According to Dodge, this was due because of the September 11 attacks; "After the attacks, everyone stopped spending money" and as a result, Slap a Ham faced stagnate commerce, causing Dodge to go into debt.

Cameo Records was an American record label that flourished in the 1920s. It was owned by the Cameo Record Corporation in New York City. Cameo released a disc by Lucille Hegamin every two months from 1921 to 1926. Cameo records are also noted for dance music. The catalogue also included the Original Memphis Five and the Varsity Eight. Musicians such as Red Nichols, Miff Mole, Adrian Rollini, and Frank Signorelli made trips to the Cameo studios. In 1926, Cameo started recording using a microphone-electrical process. An interesting blues number is 583, "Crazy Blues", by Salt & Pepper.

Allied Forces is the fifth studio album by Canadian hard rock band Triumph, released in 1981, and is largely considered to be their signature record. The title track was the first single from the record, which was released a month before the album came out. Allied Forces reached #23 on the pop albums chart assisted by the singles "Magic Power" and "Fight the Good Fight," which hit #8 and #18, respectively, on the US mainstream rock chart of 1981.

Fastway were an English metal band formed in 1982. They released their self-titled debut in 1983, which was both a critical and commercial success. A second album, All Fired Up, dropped in 1984, but failed to get traction due to the rise of glam. In 1985, the group released Waiting for the Roar, which was more of an album-oriented rock sound, instead of the bluesy-metal of the previous albums. Success was limited, and disappointed many fans, but the same year, Fastway was approached to make the soundtrack for the heavy metal horror film Trick or Treat. The film flopped, but the soundtrack re-established Fastway as a hard-hitting metal band. The soundtrack was a moderate success and stayed on the Top 200 chart for eleven months.
