Scala Records was a British record label which was in business between 1911 and 1927. The source firm was the Scala Record Co. Ltd., based in London. Pressings were from Germany until the First World War, then from London, with masters from Beka and others. A number of American masters were used, such as those from Vocalion and Gennett. The repertoire was jazz, popular music, and vocal. A second label, Scala Ideal, offered the same popular material between 1923 and 1927.

The front of the Halászbástya or Fisherman's Bastion with the tower of Matthias Church in the foggy background. I really love this high-contrast film for relatively low contrast scenes (of which this foggy winter night really was). The mixture of the hardness fading to background softness was really highlighted that night. Glen Canyon Park, San Francisco (10/22/2011) The backlit Pampas Grass (Cortaderia selloana?) caught my eye (you can also see one across the canyon), and the rays of the rapidly falling sun were just a bonus (helped by the 041 Filter). I pretty much metered for the highlights and subtracted 2EV (placing the pampas grass plumes at zone 7) as I usually do for this B&W slide film. The amazing thing is that the canyon wall was very thin in the negative but is still scannable (and printable).
