Despite Rye in East Sussex being such a tourist honeypot, many of its historic streets can be found completely empty of tourists - such as West Street painted here on a hot sunny day.

King Canute is reputed to have had a palace near here and it might have been at Bosham that he commnded the sea to go back. Its Norman past can be seen in the round chancel arch but the building has its origins earlier than this being founded in c.850. The South Downs Way is a 100 mile (160 km) trail running between the city of Winchester and the South Coast resort of Eastbourne. Date: 29th October 2013. Bosham Reflections Number of views as of 11th June 2019 = 3910. Another shot of the West Sussex village of Bosham on the shores of Chichester Harbour, with the distinctive tower of Holy Trinity Church reflected in the water. Fallow Deer Number of views as of 18th October 2018 = 330. A small group of fallow deer, keeping a watchful eye out to make sure that I wasn't getting any closer. Captured in West Sussex, the herd of several hundred animals is claimed to be the oldest in all England. The fallow deer was probably introduced to Britain by the Romans in the 1st century AD. Date: 23rd April 2011.

Bosham (pronounced Bozzam) is a picturesque coastal village situated on an inlet of Chichester Harbour, in the southern county of West Sussex, England. It's an idyllic spot, with the 10th century Holy Trinity Church, never far from view. Motorists must beware however, because at high tide the sea comes right into the old village, flooding the lower road around the harbour and with it several car parking spaces. Arundel Number of views as of 1st May 2019 = 375. Ancestral home of the Elven Knights of Arundel (sorry, made that bit up, sounds like something from Lord of the Rings, but I believe the following is true...). The restored mediaeval castle at Arundel (West Sussex, England) dominates the neighbouring town and the surrounding landscape. The castle was founded on Christmas Day in the year 1067 by Roger de Montgomery, the first Earl of Arundel, an honour bestowed on him by his cousin William the Conqueror. For the last 400 years the castle has been in the family of the Duke of Norfolk. Date: 28th October 2013.

Arundel Castle Gardens Number of views as of 28th July 2016 = 280. The grounds of Arundel Castle (West Sussex, England) have been open to the public since 1800 and the gardens since 1854. This particular garden (The Collector Earl's Garden) was conceived as a tribute to Thomas Howard, the 14th Earl of Arundel (1585-1646), a notable English collector of paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, books and jewellery.
