This image was taken on a very blustery day in November with the North Sea crashing into Tynemouth Pier and the early morning sunshine lighting up the sea outside the shadow of the pier itself . Work on the pier was started in 1854 and it was originally curved, but storm damage to the central part of the pier led to it being re-built in a straight line. The image has been given a panoramic crop for something just a little bit different.
