The River Garry at Killiecrankie, near Pitlochry, Perthshire, Scotland. Killiecrankie (Gaelic: Coille Chneagaidh) is a village in Perth and Kinross, Scotland on the River Garry. It lies at the Pass of Killiecrankie, by the A9 road. In 1689, during the Jacobite Rebellion, the Battle of Killiecrankie was fought on the northern edge of the village. It was the first victory of the Jacobites – their Highland charge terrified and overwhelmed the British Government army under General Hugh MacKay in only 10 minutes.
