Description: It used to be very common to see someone on the side of the road sticking their thumb out in hopes that a passing motorist would pick them up, but not so much anymore. While many see the decline as a fear of crime by way of picking up a serial killer or would be robber, the real truth is that car ownership has increased steadily decade over decade, making the once common practice far less needed. Couple that with affordable ride-share services that are literally a click away, and there just isn't much need to 'thumb a ride' anymore.
