Description: The Thing is a 1982 American science fiction horror film directed by John Carpenter and written by Bill Lancaster. Based on the 1938 John W. Campbell Jr. novella Who Goes There?, it tells the story of a group of American researchers in Antarctica who encounter the eponymous "Thing", a parasitic extraterrestrial life-form that assimilates, then imitates other organisms. The group is overcome by paranoia and conflict as they learn that they can no longer trust each other and that any one of them could be the Thing.
Description: U.S. Outpost #31 is a U.S. Antarctic research center which first appears in the 1982 film The Thing and is subsequently featured in the 2002 video-game of the same name and two Dark Horse comic-books - The Thing from Another World and The Thing from Another World: Questionable Research. The station is operated by the United States and is manned by a crew of twelve men.
Description: The link station at Site 26 was constructed as a means to provide more flexibility during operations of the avatar team on Pandora. It consists of a link shack and a regular shack that are connected via a pressurized walkway. They are held up by four hydraulic bases that automatically engage when the building touches down. The structures are equipped with life support systems, as well as a small scale laboratory for biological research, three link units, a refrigerator with food, sleeping quarters and, presumably, showers.
Description: Miller's Outpost was an Ontario, California-based clothing retailer which had over 100 stores in the western United States. It generally sold its own Anchor Blue brand name of youth-oriented denim, graphic T-shirts and casual clothing. Sometimes the company was referred to as the Anchor Blue Inc., but their retail clothing chain of stores was labeled as Anchor Blue.
