This painting is part of a series exploring the relationship between line, shape and colour - a recurring theme in my work over the years. Influenced in part by the work of Mondrian, the series uses bold blocks of colour divided by broad black lines. Where they differ from Mondrian is in the use of strong 30, 45 and 60 degree angles rather than pure horizontals and verticals. These works also draw on my past experience in engineering drawing, and the beauty of angles in engineered structures. When we're children we wish for the future, in our wisdom we yearn for youth.

Watercolour on Lanaquarelle watercolour paper. 100 % cotton, mould made, fine grain, cold press paper. I bought this while I was in Berlin a few years ago, and didn't quite like it at first , because it is not like Arches, which I was used to, but still as good a quality. Anyway, my Geometricats were just a fun exercise, 23 cm x 31 cm, which I started, while painting with friends in the studio. It may not be finished yet, but just living with it a while.

Mixed Media 34 cm x 17 cm This is one of my earliest watercolour abstracts, inspired by Paul Klee's painting of a Fish on a Plate. My husband has always loved this painting as well, and would not part with it for anything. Fortunately I now have a high resolution image, which means wonderful vibrant prints and other products. Would love to have this one myself as a cushion or scarf or a mug...: ))

Watercolour on watercolour paper I had just bought a new tube of Daniel Smith watercolour. The colour is called moonglow. It's a beautiful purple colour, which I used on the shading of the hair. Then I could not resist all the bright colours in her outfit. Can't think of a good title. Any suggestions are appreciated.

My most recent Abstract tiger. This is the biggest one so far. Acrylics on stretched canvas 92 cm x 122 cm . It took me over a year to finish it. Many layers and versions. It's finally finished, at least for now.
