Rosa Louise McCauley, better known as Rosa Parks (Tuskegee, February 4, 1913 - Detroit, October 24, 2005), was an American black activist, symbol of the black civil rights movement in the United States. He became famous, on December 1, 1955, for having flatly refused to give up his place on the bus to a white man, becoming the trigger of the movement that was called the boycott of Montgomery buses and later would mark the beginning of antisegregationist struggle.
