Apparently Santa did not always travel by sleigh on Christmas Eve. According to this 1909 vintage postcard Santa decided a balloon may be more efficient. Or perhaps the reindeer were simply ill this year? Whatever the case, I offer you another fun and unique old vintage postcard. I have not done any retouching to the design so please be aware there may be signs of wear and I intentionally left it as part of the design. I think it gives it a more authentic vintage feel!

Wreck of RMS Titanic. This is the bow section of the Titanic, the largest ocean liner of its day. It sank on 15 April 1912 after hitting an iceberg in the northern Atlantic. Over 1500 people died. The ship broke in two as it sank, with the bow and stern sections 600 metres apart. The wreckage was discovered on the seabed in 1985 at a depth of around 3.5 kilometres. This expedition to the wreck took place in June 2004, with this photograph taken by the remotely operated vehicle (ROV) Hercules.

Eugene Cernan, Apollo 17. Artwork of US and NASA astronaut Eugene Cernan (1934-2017) saluting the US flag (Lunar Flag Assembly) left on the Moon during the Apollo 17 mission. The flag had a horizontal strut to support it on the airless Moon. This mission, the last Apollo mission, landed in the Taurus-Littrow region of the Moon. Cernan's co-lander was US astronaut Harrison Schmitt. They explored the area for three days (11-14 December 1972). Cernan was the last person to walk on the Moon. His departing words were: 'we leave as we came and, God willing, as we shall return, with peace and hope for all mankind. Godspeed the crew of Apollo 17'.

Biblical scene, Wieliczka Salt Mine. Bas-relief carving in salt depicting the Wedding at Cana story from the Christian bible, where Jesus (left) turned water into wine. This carving, in the chapel of Saint Kinga, in the Wieliczka Salt Mine, was done in the period 1927-1963 by the miner and sculptor Antoni Wyrodek. The salt mine at Wieliczka, Poland, is one of the oldest in the world. It was started in the 13th century and is still in use in the 21st century. By the 19th century, vast underground caverns had been excavated to depths of several hundred metres, including statues sculpted out of the salt deposits. In 1978, the mine became a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Space tourism. Futuristic space tourism poster advertising the delights of a Grand Tour to Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. The Grand Tour follows the route taken by the Voyager 2 spacecraft, launched in 1977, which visited all four outer planets between 1979 and 1989, using gravity assists in its flights past Jupiter and Saturn. This flight plan would be possible every 175 years or so, when the outer planets are suitably aligned.
