I painted this work for an exhibition in Sydney entitled "Healing Hands" - I was painting a private commission for the surgeon at the time...and asked him if I could come into theatre with him...he took me literally and waited till the case he would be working on was actually a hand .. Who would have believed what was to come - 2 huge projects - I have now painted or drawn over 100 works with a medical theme. Avril Thomas is better known for her painted portraits. Her work is in corporate and private collections round Australia Hong Kong and USA. Her work can be found in the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra.
