Retro 45 RPM Record Adapter

Lucky Four Records was a Chicago-based record company, located at 5411 W. Diversey Avenue, that existed from 1960 to 1963. The label was founded and owned by Lenny LaCour, who was also a singer, songwriter, and record producer. Lucky Four Records appears to have released only 45 rpm singles; some by LaCour himself, others by such artists as The Swinging Hearts, The Belvederes, and Eddy Bell. All Lucky Four releases are considered collectible, with #1012, "The Great Great Pumpkin", a Halloween novelty song by Eddy Bell particularly sought after.

A 45 rpm adapter (also 45 rpm record insert, 45 rpm spindle adapter, 7-inch adapter or spider, the common size of 45 RPM records) is a small plastic or metal insert that goes in the middle of a 45-rpm record so it can be played on the standard size spindle of a turntable. The adapter could be a small solid circle that fits onto the spindle (meaning only one 45 could be played at a time) or a larger adapter that fits over the entire spindle of a record changer, permitting a stack of 45s to be played. These are often referred to as 45 spindles. A few manufacturers supplied a complete change of spindle for 45s.

Power Records released a series of Planet of the Apes stories using their 'Book & Record' format in 1974, each of which covered one of the four films that had been released at the time. Like other Book & Record offerings, the sets included a 45 rpm record and a comic book. The record narrated the comic through sound effects, audio dialogue, and a backing soundtrack. In addition to the 45 rpm versions, a 12" 33 rpm compilation record combining all four Arthur P. Jacobs films adapted by Power Records. Like other Power Records' Book & Record sets, the Planet of the Apes are highly desirable collectables, not just due to their pop culture value, but because complete sets with both the record and comic are hard to come by.
