Evening at Brighton on England's East Sussex coast and a group of young people demonstate break dancing skills in the Victorian Bandstand on the seafront promenade. The bandstand was designed by the Borough Surveyor, Philip Lockwood, and was opened in 1884. It fell into disrepair during the mid 1900s but has been restored to its former glory and was reopened in 2009. Its design mirrors the spirit of the Brighton Pavilion just down the road! This is a scan of original advertising for the Beaconsfield Hotel. It holds the same inconsistencies of the original art. The Hotel Beaconsfield is located at 1731 Beacon Street in Brookline, Massachusetts. It was built in 1903 by Henry Whitney, a streetcar magnate, and was originally a 200-room apartment hotel. The building is part of the Beaconsfield Terrace complex, which is a collection of residences with private amenities on the Knapp Estate.

For those in the northeast, candlepin bowling was a long time tradition. Though not as popular as it once was, it still is a great sport today. One of the attributes of the game was not only the candle shaped pins, but the use of a small ball to play.

This come from my trip last year to the coast around Liverpool, Formby and Southport. On this particular day I took the famous ferry across the Mersey, and walked the shore up to New Brighton, where the river Mersey mixes with the sea. Towards the end of that walk I found this spot where the docks opposite lined up for a pleasing arrangement. I've now turned my original photo into an oil painting on board 16 inches x 12 inches - capturing the light of a sunny September day shortly to be encroached on by cloud and rain.

Centrally shown is the war memorial built to commemorate Rottingdean's soldiers who died during the two world wars.

The starlings almost obliterate the end of Brighton Pier for a moment this evening. What a wonderful sight it was!

Brighton Ski Resort was the first ski resort in Utah, and one of the first in the United States. Brighton was started in 1936 when members of the Alpine Ski Club built a rope tow from wire and an old elevator motor. Brighton is on public lands; all of the resort's land is part of the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, meaning the whole resort is open to the public year-round, though tickets must be purchased to use the lifts.
