Boudica or Boudicca, also known as Boadicea or Boudicea, and in Welsh as Buddug, was a queen of the British Celtic Iceni tribe who led an uprising against the conquering forces of the Roman Empire in AD 60 or 61.

It was at the Battle of Copenhagen in the year 1801, that Admiral Lord Horatio Nelson was ordered to retreat from the battle. He held his telescope to the eye patch of his blinded eye, looking for the flagship's order, as he said, "I see no ships" deliberately disobeying his orders to retreat. Nelson turned to his flag-captain and said, ‘Foley, you know that I have lost an eye, and have a right to be blind sometimes’.
