The name Guanche comes from a generalization of the name of the inhabitants of the island of Chinet or Tenerife. The native of Tenerife was nevertheless called "Wa-n-Chinet" (Chinet's), CHINET being the name of the island in its language, and it was applied to the aborigines of the other Canary Islands for many years. Here we want to represent it as an international figure, without borders or divisions, art as a flag and with the variety of colours that make up our culture today.

The church was built in 1574 on the site of a hermitage that contained images of Saint Peter and Saint Ginés. The church was flooded and completely rebuilt in 1667, and expanded in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Date: 15th May 2022.

The term "Guanche" ("wan-tche") was the way in which the first settlers of Tenerife referred to themselves, and was applied to the natives of the other Canary Islands for many years. Thus, the "Guanche" would originally come from the Berber language, from the words "wa n" (A) "shen" (shen), which would mean 'the (man) who is from "Ashenshen"' (Achineche / Chineche, Tenerife). This design (T-shirt), represents the birth of our character, "the Guanche", symbolizing the arrival to his new "world of caricature".

The "Menceyatos" are territorial demarcations and how the island of Tenerife was divided before the arrival of the "conquistadors" in the fifteenth century. On one side of the "Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias", located in Candelaria, are bronze sculptures representing 9 "menceyes" (kings): Acaimo, mencey of Tacoronte; Adjona, mencey de Abona; Añaterve, mencey Güimar; Bencomo, king or mencey of Taoro; Beneharo, mencey of Anaga; Pelinor, mencey of Adeje; Pelicar, mencey of Icod; Romen mencey of Daute; and Tegueste, mencey of Tegueste.

The island of Tenerife is just over 300 km. away from the African continent and about 1,300 km. of Western Europe. It has and area of 2,034 km2 and rising at its center the gigantic "Pico" or mount Teide, at 3,718 meters a.s.l. But only unique beings inhabit it like the hound, the "coruja" owl, the Canary Island wall gecko, the Kestrel, the loggerhead turtle and the Canarian goat, among many others.
