A lucky shot since I was photographing the mist in the valley when the bikers appeared and stopped for a drink having cycled up The Struggle. I think the bikers make the picture!

Keswick, Cumbria, UK Keswick is an English market town and a civil parish in the Allerdale borough of Cumbria, England. Historically it was in Cumberland, and since 1974 has been in Cumbria. It lies within the Lake District National Park, Keswick is just north of Derwentwater and is four miles (six kilometres) from Bassenthwaite Lake. It had a population of 5,243 at the 2011 census. Ashness Bridge is perhaps the most photographed packhorse bridge in the Lake District due to its location and stunning views. This extremely popular viewpoint looks out over Derwentwater with spectacular views over Bassenthwaite Lake and the River Derwent.

A charcoal drawing effect from an original photograph of Aira Force - a magical waterfall in England's Lake District. The river - the Aira Beck - flows from the heights of Stybarrow Dodd - 2,362 feet above sea level, eventually flowing into Ullswater - having first dropped 70 feet over this waterfall. The name 'Aira' is apparently from the Norse 'eyrr' meaning gravelly bank - the river flows through a gravelly spit as is meets the lake. The woodland was landscaped in Victorian times.

Ashness Bridge, Cumbria Ashness Bridge is a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road (B5289) to Watendlath, in the English Lake District, Cumbria. The brisge is at grid reference NY270196, and is known for being a fine viewpoint across Borrowdale towards Skiddaw, including views of Derwent Water nearby. It or its predecessor may have been a packhorse bridge conveying packhorse traffic from Watendlath to Keswick. Near the bridge is a small cairn to Bob Graham, who ran a round of 42 Lakeland peaks in 1932 (in under 24 hours), a record which was not equalled for 28 years. Whinlatter Pass, Cumbria, England Whinlatter Pass is a mountain pass at an elevation of 337m (1,105ft) above the sea level located in Cumbria, England. Where is Whinlatter? Set high in the Whinlatter Forest Park, within the Thornthwaite Forest, the pass is located in the northern Lake District of Cumbria. It’s the northernmost road pass in the district. The river was known to the Romans as the Itouna, as recorded by the Greek geographer Claudius Ptolemaeus (Ptolemy) in the 2nd century AD. This lovely lake is surrounded by stunning mountain scenery to its south, softening to the gentle hills of the north. The lake is the second largest in England at seven and a half miles long, but is less than a mile across. It is also the third deepest English lake at 250 feet deep.

This image, originally captured on film in the autumn of 1987, depicts the Ashness Bridge, in the Lake District National Park, in England. This is a popular spot for capturing images, but it has changed over the years as the view across to Skiddaw and Derwentwater, the mountain and lake in the distance, is now restricted by the abundance of trees that have grown. This image, therefore, represents a historical view. The bridge is a traditional Lakeland bridge, in that the arch does not contain a keystone. Within the park, there are many 'pack horse' bridges such as this, mostly built during the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The fact that they still stand after 300 or more years is a testament to their construction.

The view from the shoreline at Crow Park on the edge of Keswick in Cumbria, looking south west towards Catbells and the western fells. Derwentwater is one of the main bodies of water within the Lake District National Park. It is approximately 3 miles long and 1 mile wide with a maximum depth of about 72 feet. The shore at Keswick is extremely popular with tourists who can hire rowing boats or take a less arduous trip on a launch. There are many walks around the lake and on the surrounding fells.

Castlerigg is perhaps the most atmospheric and dramatically sited of all British stone circles, with panoramic views and the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. It is also among the earliest British circles, raised in about 3000 BC during the Neolithic period.

Glenridding (meaning “glen overgrown with bracken”) is a small, mainly tourist village at the southern end of Ullswater, near the foot of Kirkstone Pass. With the lead mining industry gone, the area is now mainly for the tourists who come to view one of the most beautiful areas in the Lakes. The area is popular with walkers with many walks to suit all levels from the easy to the more demanding. One reason a lot of walkers come here is to do the classic Helvellyn walk along Striding Edge. This is a walk not for the fainted hearted with Helvellyn reaching a height of 3,116ft [950m].

Keswick's local lake is only a ten minute walk from the centre of town. To its west rise the fells of Cat Bells. To the east is the fantastic viewpoint of Friar's Crag, jutting into the lake. And its southern foot is the entrance to the beautiful Borrowdale valley
