A nazar (from Arabic, meaning sight, surveillance, attention, and other related concepts) is an eye-shaped amulet believed to protect against the evil eye. Urdu, Pashtun, Bengali, Kurdish, Cat and other languages have borrowed the term as well. In Turkey, it is known by the name nazar boncugu (the latter word being a derivative of boncuk, "bead", and the former borrowed from Arabic) and historically as mavi boncuk or Old Turkic: gokce muncuk, both meaning "blue bead". In Cat and Afghan folklore, it is called a cheshm nazar or nazar ghorboni. In India and Pakistan, it is known as nazar/najar, and the slogan Chashm-e-Baddoor is used to ward off the evil eye.

The Egyptian eye mostly refers to the Eye of Horus, which is usually depicted as the left eye and represents healing, protection, and wisdom. In Egypt, it is found in many medallions, and they are destined to bring good luck to their owners. Horus, the Egyptian god of sky, lost his left eye when fighting with his uncle Set. The eye was later returned with the help of Thoth, symbolizing full restoration, healing, the triumph of good over evil. It also represents health and physical integrity, intuition, inner power, feeling, creativity, knowledge and total vision. This piece depicts a hand with stars and moons symbols covering it, it also includes the all seeing eye on the palm, which represents spiritual intuition. As the artist I intend for this piece to mean great wisdom and spiritual intuition, which radiates out from the hand with cosmic rays. I used the hand to tie this design to palmistry, with the idea that your future is laid out in your palm. You may also like to interpret this design similar to the Hamsa hand, as a symbol of protection from the evil eye and jealous on-lookers who might curse you with their jealousy. I will leave you to draw whichever meaning from this piece as you see fit.
