From an original Engraving from the Illustrated London News December 1848 The publication of this image spread the use of Christmas Trees like wildfire, and led wrongly to the belief that Albert had introduced the Christmas Tree to Britain. It was actually Queen Charlotte, the German born wife of George III, for a party she held in 1800 Please note there may be some age related marks from the original which will show also on any print ordered. This is inevitable with prints of this age & actually lends an authentic look to the print in my opinion.

The Totem Pole was a gift from the people of Canada to HM The Queen in June, 1958. The Pole is 100 feet high, one foot for every year, and marks the centenary of British Columbia, which was named by Queen Victoria and proclaimed a Crown Colony on November 19th 1858. It is now the Pacific Coast Province of Canada. Totem Poles are a characteristic feature of Pacific coast Indian Art. They have no religious significance, being more akin to a Family Tree, embodying legendary tribal history.

Jubilee Clock Tower, Weymouth, January 2023 This clock tower on Weymouth Esplanade (Dorset, England) was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's 1887 Golden Jubilee. The plaque reads: JUBILEE MEMORIAL ERECTED BY PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION THE CLOCK BEING THE GIFT OF SIR HENRY EDWARDS " Date: 30th January 2023.

In 1839, Samuel Cunard was awarded the first British transatlantic steamship mail contract, and the next year formed the British and North American Royal Mail Steam-Packet Company in Glasgow with shipowner Sir George Burns (whose descendants took the title of Lord Inverclyde) together with Robert Napier, the famous Scottish steamship engine designer and builder, to operate the line's four pioneer paddle steamers on the Liverpool–Halifax–Boston route. For most of the next 30 years, Cunard held the Blue Riband for the fastest Atlantic voyage. However, in the 1870s Cunard fell behind its rivals, the White Star Line and the Inman Line. To meet this competition, in 1879 the firm was reorganised as the Cunard Steamship Company, Ltd.
