This atmospheric street scene came from my imagination and exploration of new techniques with drawing figures and buildings. When I posted this on FB it broke all previous records for likes so I have made prints available to meet demand.

The Hooker River was definitely in a rush to get as far away as possible from Mount Cook, which stands imposing at the end of the Hooker Valley. For the first half of the Hooker Valley Track, Mount Cook was hidden behind the mountain to the right, but it finally came into view here and stood tall over us for the rest of our walk.

Moldova is a small country that was part of the USSR, between Romania in the west and Ukraine in the east. It is land-locked (no sea border). Moldova is officially by UN (United Nations) the poorest county in Europe. I have visited most years over the past 2 decades and have witnessed huge changes and shared the lives of a handful of rural villages near Cahul and Leova. Humanly speaking they have little material "wealth" ... but they are the happiest people I know! There are still horse and carts to be seen.
