Peaches Records & Tapes was a Los Angeles-based chain of record superstores, some as large as 15,000 square feet. They were known for its vast selection, with many locations in buildings the size of a typical grocery store, reportedly stocking $500,000 in inventory. Peaches were also known for in-store events with bands and artists, huge murals of the latest album covers on the side of its buildings and for selling records from fruit-crates. The first store opened on Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles in 1975 and later that year, a second was opened in Atlanta.

Hit Records was a record company based in Nashville, Tennessee, which specialized in sound-alike cover versions of hit records. These types of releases are often categorized as exploito. It was run by entrepreneurs Bill Beasley and Alan Bubis. The records they produced were sold via convenience stores throughout the United States. Prior to HIT, they started Tennessee Records in 1950 and the Republic label in 1952. In 1959, they took advantage of buying up overstocked hits at low prices and selling them cheaply via the racks throughout the country. Then with Hit Records which they formed, they added their own twin side records to the mix. At 39¢ (US), the records were less than half the price of the hit recordings they were covering.

The Bo Diddley beat is a syncopated musical rhythm that is widely used in rock and roll and pop music. The beat is named after rhythm and blues musician Bo Diddley, who introduced and popularized the beat with his self-titled debut single, "Bo Diddley", in 1955. Music educator and author Michael Campbell describes the Bo Diddley beat as: a slightly altered version of the clave rhythm ... [The "Bo Diddley"] song shows the relationship between Afro-Cuban music, Americanized Latin rhythms, and rock rhythm ... [The beats] are more active and complicated than a simple rock rhythm, but less complex than a real Afro-Cuban rhythm.

Goldband Records is an American record label based in Lake Charles, Louisiana, founded in 1945 and best known for its Cajun and R&B recordings in the 1950s and 1960s. Its founder, Eddie Shuler, claimed "the record business is nearly always 90% hype and 10% record"

Mojo Records was a California-based record label founded in 1995 by producer Jay Rifkin. It became a joint venture with Universal Records in 1996 and then sold to the Zomba Group in 2001, who placed it under their subsidiary Jive Records. The label has been largely inactive since Zomba was purchased and restructured under BMG in 2003, save for a few reissues of older material. The final releases from the label were Reel Big Fish's We're Not Happy 'til You're Not Happy and Goldfinger's The Best of Goldfinger in early 2005.

Phantom Music was an independent record label established by Kalenna Harper (former member of Dirty Money) and Tony Vick in 2009, and dissolved in 2011.
