Denim Jeans Merch
Description: Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weave produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. Denim, as it is recognized today, was first produced in Nîmes, France. Denim is available in a range of colors, but the most common denim is indigo denim in which the warp thread is dyed while the weft thread is left white. As a result of the warp-faced twill weaving, one side of the textile is dominated by the blue warp threads, and the other side is dominated by the white weft threads. Jeans fabricated from this cloth are thus predominantly white on the inside. Denim is used to create a wide variety of garments, accessories, and furniture.

Description: Sergio Valente jeans debuted in 1979, after Valente – an Italian celebrity hairdresser – lent his name to the line. Although Valente wasn’t involved in designing the clothes, the label quickly attracted a following. Between 1979 and 1982, annual sales topped $125 million, with more than a million pairs of jeans sold each month. Sergios were a staple on TV shows and at the hottest dance clubs of the time. By the mid ’80s, consumers began favoring a more casual look, which led to the next denim craze – stone-washed jeans. Suddenly, dark-blue designer jeans were as cool as orange polyester pants, and as quickly as they arrived, Sergio Valente jeans made their exit, going out of production in 1988.
