The face of Big Brother looms over The Party's doublethink slogans in this graphic inspired by George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty Four. Big Brother's likeness here is based upon that in the 1956 film adaptation of the novel.

INSPIRED BY GEORGE ORWELL'S "1984" THIS IS A DESIGN FEATURING THE INGSOC LOGO. Winston Smith comments that even to go for a walk by oneself can be regarded as suspicious.

V for Vendetta is a 2005 dystopian political action film directed by James McTeigue (in his feature directorial debut) from a screenplay by the Wachowskis. It is based on the 1988 DC Comics limited series of the same name by Alan Moore and David Lloyd. The film is set in an alternative future where a Nordic supremacist and neo-fascist totalitarian regime has subjugated the United Kingdom. It centres on V (portrayed by Hugo Weaving), an anarchist and masked freedom fighter who attempts to ignite a revolution through elaborate terrorist acts, and Evey Hammond (portrayed by Natalie Portman) a young, working-class woman caught up in V's mission. Stephen Rea portrays a detective leading a desperate quest to stop V.

The phrase "two plus two equals five" ("2 + 2 = 5") is a slogan used in literature and other media, most notably the 1949 dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.
