I was inspired in seeing many egrets over the years to do this painting. This is my watercolor and ink painting of an egret wading in the wetlands. This painting is part of my Florida watercolor collection.

Egrets are herons that have white or buff plumage, developing fine plumes during the breeding season. Egrets are not a biologically distinct group from herons and have the same build.

Snowy Egret Fishing

The Eastern Great Egret is a permanent resident at Lake Baroon, Maleny. Very close to my home and has been the subject of some great photos...it really knows how to pose!

Egrets are beautiful birds, especially when a slight breeze ruffles their plumage. This one was actually sitting on a fence when I took the photo and he let me get quite close before gliding away to a more private perch. I decided to try and create a background that would set off the simple beauty of the bird in peaceful surroundings, looking for a last bit of supper before going to roost for the night. This one was taken in Indian shores in Florida, I blended the image in Photoshop CC and Topaz Restyle and Clarity.

This is my original artwork of a great white egret flying gracefully from an old wooden pier.
