Canon Rebel T3i. Nymph by Paul Fjelde (1892 - 1984) Bronze, 1932. Fjelde's early skill in creating busts and portrait reliefs enabled him to become an assistant to Lorado Taft in Chicago. Canon Rebel T3i Samson and the Lion by Gleb Derujunsky (1888 - 1975) Limestone 1949. Derujunsky's work included a large number of biblical themes such as this powerful rendition of Samson and the Lion. As proficient at carving as he was at modeling in clay, Derujinsky worked in both stone and wood. Located at Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina USA. Forest Idyl by Albin Polasek (1879 - 1965) Bronze 1903. A period of study at the American Academy in Rome helped develop Polasek's sense of style and affinity for the human figure. After his return to America in 1913, he took a job as head of the sculpture department at the Art Institute in Chicago. In 1930 he returned to the American Academy as a visiting professor where this sculpture was modeled. Brookgreen Gardens. Murrells Inlet, South Carolina USA. Eagles and Prey is the oldest known sculpture in any New York City park. On the western edge of the Mall, the bronze statue is particularly notable for its level of exquisite detail. Cast in Paris in 1850, the sculpture was gifted to the City by Gordon Webster Burnham and installed in Central Park in 1863. It was created by Christophe Fratin, who produced a series of small bronze pieces that were thought to be fanciful and romantic in tone. Eagles and Prey illustrates his interest in the elemental forces of nature: a helpless goat is caught in the talons of two birds of prey. The work's rich surface texture and anatomical detail are typical of Fratin's style.

A golden Buddha sculpture in a richly decorated alcove at the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Wat Pho or Wat Phra Chetuphon, Bangkok, Thailand. This temple has more Buddha images than any other in Thailand. Canon 500D, zoom lens. (Featured in The World as we See it, or as we Missed it.)

Independence Monument in the Mall Gardens on the outskirts of Valletta city and approaching the suburb of Floriana. The monument commemorates the independence of Malta from Britain in 1964. Created by Bonnici, it merges the abstract with the figurative as the female figure (an allegory of Malta) strides forward into the unknown as she liberates herself from the shackles of the past (symbolised by the abstract bands beneath her) whilst tightly holding aloft the national flag in one hand.

"Dionysus" by Edward McCartan (1879-1947), crowned with ivy, stands nonchalantly, one knee sharply bent, hand on hips. He hold a thrysus over the head of a panther which curls behind his legs. A piece of drapery is draped over his left wrist and thigh. Originally designed in 1923, was enlarged and remodeled for Brookgreen Gardens in 1936. The classic harmony of this figure is enlivened by the rhythmic curves of composition with its finely curved balance of line. Murrell's Inlet, South Carolina USA. Leaving the main gate of Malta city the Triton's Fountain is passed on route to Floriana, one of Valletta's suburbs. The Triton's fountain was designed and constructed between 1952 and 1959 and is one of Valletta's most famous modernist works. The artists were sculptor Chevalier Vincent Apap and his collaborator draughtsman Victor Anastasi. The fountain consists of three bronze figures of mythological Tritons holding up a platter.
