The practice now is to replace old canoes with plastic ones for a more sustainable environment.

The water takes 6 months or so to come down from Angola; it spreads out across the delta and then seeps into the ground supplying water to underground aquifers. *Best viewed large* The Okavango Delta, Botswana, Africa. This body of water is the largest inland delta in the world, and one of the wildest parts of Southern Africa. Many of the animals inhabiting this region have never had human contact and thus, are as carnal as they come. That's a comforting thought, when you are spending two nights bush camping among this habitat lol! No toilets, showers or indoor areas, aside from our tents. At night time all was silent, apart from the calls of elephants, hyenas, jackals, and what I thought was a train moving in the distance.. turned out to be a pride of lions roaring after they had killed their dinner. By mid afternoon the temperature reached 48 degrees celcius (118F) on our first day....
