Jay & Silent Bob found out, in Dogma, to their dismay, that the Chicago suburb-town of Shermer, Illinois, was actually an entirely fictional place, dreamed up by the master of the 80s teen comedy/drama - John Hughes. Many of the films he wrote or directed were set in the same fictitious universe. In a 1999 interview he revealed the scale of this "Shermer-verse". 15 years worth of notebooks detailed how Ferris Bueller (FB's Day Off) was friends with Sam Baker (16 Candles), John Bender (The Breakfast Club) lived three doors down from Del Griffiths (Planes, Trains & Automobiles) and so on. What a shame his untimely death meant we did not get to see this 'verse expanded upon. The bulldog mascot was briefly mention in Ferris Buelle...

On a brisk spring morning in 1984, a group of delinquents came together in the school library to serve detention. This t-shirt features the school's name, Shermer High School, and the year that it all went down. Each one of us is a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal.

Shermer High School is the fictional Illinois public school that was used in multiple John Hughes films, including The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Sixteen Candles, and Weird Science. The school’s mascot and teams are known as the Bulldogs, and this particular example is based on the one seen in 1985’s Weird Science. Well, based on the one that was cut into a tube top and worn quite well by none other than Kelly LeBrock.

This is a class shirt for the year 1985 inspired by the fictional High School Shermer High from the movie The Breakfast Club as well as other John Hughes 80's movies.
