Description: During September 1919, Harry Sinclair restructured Sinclair Oil and Refining Corporation, Sinclair Gulf Corporation, and 26 other related entities into Sinclair Consolidated Oil Corporation. In 1932, this new entity was renamed Consolidated Oil Corporation. In 1943, it was renamed Sinclair Oil Corporation. Near the beginning of the Great Depression, Sinclair sold the remaining interest in its pipeline subsidiary to Standard Oil Company (Indiana) for US$72.5 million (Standard Oil had purchased a 50% interest in the pipeline subsidiary in 1921). With these funds, including an additional US$33.5 million from an additional common stock issue, Sinclair retired several promissory notes and prepared to weather the Depression.

Description: Associated Oil Company was an American oil and gas company once headquartered in San Francisco, California and served much of the Pacific West Coast, including Hawaii, as well as the Orient and merged with the Tidewater Oil Company in 1938. Beginning in 1934, Associated Oil Company commissioned a series of photographs to be taken to record the progress of construction on the Golden Gate Bridge and San-Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge projects.The projects were of special interest to the Associated Oil Company because they provided Flying A Gasoline and Cycol Motor Oil almost entirely for the projects.
Description: White Rose Gasoline was a product of the National Refining Company, which was founded by J.I. Lamprecht in 1882. He ran the company until he died in 1920. Afterward, his son W.H Lamprecht took over. The company produced a range of products. Its brands included National, ENARCO and Royal motor oil, White Rose and Royal gasoline and motor oil, and White Rose, Royal and National light oil.
Description: John and Luke Hancock started the Pure Oil of Minneapolis in the early 1900's. They sold out to The Pure Oil Company of Ohio in 1920. Luke Hancock continued to work for Pure Oil, and John Hancock started the Hancock Oil Company in Minneapolis. John Hancock died in 1929, at which time the Minneapolis Hancock Oil stations were sold to Phillips.
Description: Amoco Corporation (Standard Oil Company until 1985) is a global chemical and oil company that was founded in 1889, around a refinery located in Whiting, Indiana, United States. Originally part of the Standard Oil Trust, it focused on gasoline for the new automobile market. Incorporated in Indiana, it was headquartered in Chicago. In the 1930s, it absorbed the American Oil Company, The combined corporation operated or licensed gas stations under both the Standard name and the Amoco name (the latter from American oil company) and its logo using either name became a red, white and blue oval with a torch in the center.
Description: Now a publicly traded Canadian company with global interests, Husky Energy was founded in 1938 in Cody, Wyoming (USA) as the Husky Refining Company, with the acquisition by Glenn Nielsen of assets of the 4-year-old Park Refining Company from founder Valentine Monroe Kirk. The first refinery was in Cody, with a second constructed later in Riverton, Wyoming. In 1946, the Company relocated to Canada, with the Riverton refinery moved to Lloydminster, Alberta to take advantage of the expanding asphalt and heavy oil opportunities in the area. A wholly owned subsidiary, Husky Oil and Refining Ltd., was created and headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Cody refinery continued operations well into the 1970s, producing primarily asphalt.
