Beach Chopper Hats
Description: Mac's Famous Bar was a Daytona Beach institution for decades, playing host to everyone from beachgoers and local drunks to race car drivers and bike week attendees. Their prime location right off the beach made them a natural spot for folks to gather after a day at the beach or even during, as Mac's was also a full-service package store selling liquor and beer to go. They were also a spot for the hardcore drinkers, opening at 6 am and offering free bloody marys to anyone who was there when they opened the door. In the early days of racing at Daytona International Speedway, you'd find many of the drivers here after a race (and sometimes before) knocking back a few beers.
Description: Steve Nelson was a high school dropout from Chicago who built up a successful motorcycle parts business, but was seduced by the California scene and moved to Huntington Beach in 1976. Nelson opened Nostalgia Cycle, specializing in parts in accessories for American motorcycles, while simultaneously launching SuperCycle Magazine. With a goal of creating a top shelf national publication for bikers, SuperCycle was all about the chopper lifestyle and featured custom bikes, bare-breasted women, and pages of ads for mail order chopper parts. The magazine struggled the first year, but year two saw circulation reach 50k, and then almost triple that in year three. SuperCycle continued to expand its reach until a national publisher purchased it.

Description: Magnum, P.I. is the quintessential '80s action show whose magic others have aspired to recreate ever since it's 1980 to 1988 run. The show centered around Thomas Magnum, a Vietnam vet now working as a private investigator in Oahu. He lives in the guest house on a massive estate, where its unseen owner lets Magnum stay in exchange for his services. He is surrounded by an eclectic mix of characters that act as sidekicks who accompany him on his adventures in solving cases around Oahu. The energy of the show was cranked up from the start as the electric guitar riff driven intro took off, interspersed with shots of Magnum and crew in the midst of their adventures, Oahu in the background, waves crashing on the beach.
