Description: Charles (CM) Russell, the “cowboy artist”, created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States. He lived and worked among the cowboys and the Blood Indian tribe in his younger years. This painting is called “The Broken Rope” and depicts a cowboy fallen off his horse as his rope breaks and a bad man escapes.
