Description: KMET was a Los Angeles FM station that broadcast at 94.7 MHz beginning in June 1968. As with many stations at the time, KMET featured an automated format with female voices and middle-of-the-road music, but eventually added live DJ's and a free form rock music format. Major changes came about in 1974 to create something new for the struggling station by way of a new rock format that retained some of the station's progressive freedom, but added much needed energy and consistency along with high production values. KMET's new format quickly rose to number one, earning them the nickname "The Mighty Met." The station continued to rock the valley through the '70s and most of the '80 before signing off on February 14, 1987.
Description: The US Festival (US pronounced like the pronoun, not as initials) was the name of two early ’80s music festivals held in San Bernardino, California. Created by Steve Wozniak, who believed that the ’70s were the “me” generation, he intended the US Festivals to encourage the ’80s to be more community-oriented and combine technology with music. The first event was held over Labor Day weekend in September ’82, and the second was less than nine months later, over Memorial Day weekend in May ’83. The ’82 event had a mix of bands slotted over the three-day event, but ’83 added themed days. While the US Festival events were hugely popular with concert-goers, both events managed to lose $12 million, making them commercial failures.
Description: For those living in Los Angeles in the '70s and '80s, there was only one place to see a rock concert or a sporting event: The Fabulous Forum. In 1967, The Forum rose from a former golf course in Inglewood like a modern-day Roman Coliseum. Its financier, Jack Kent Cooke, was a door-to-door encyclopedia salesman turned multi-millionaire owner of both pro basketball and hockey teams. He dreamed of building sports' answer to the Taj Mahal in Los Angeles, and The Fabulous Forum was his dream come true, as a 75' high Roman-style building adorned by 80 exterior columns. The facility was a shining star of the greater L.A. area for decades, hosting countless events from sports championships and rock concerts, to circuses and home shows.

Description: Sis Broadcasting bought WRNA-FM, which was number 10 in the market, and switched it to WROQ with a format of "adult rock". People complained that WROQ did not play "harder" rock like WRNA, instead playing a mix of Top 40 and "more esoteric numbers".[5] Among those who apparently did not like the change was operations manager Walker, who left for WRPL in April 1973. However, WROQ went to number five "on a cumulative basis" in the metro ratings after four months. Progressive rock on WROQ was limited to simulcasts of In Concert on ABC on some Friday nights and a Saturday program.
